Air Relief Inlet Guide Vane
Adjusts the inlet airflow of centrifugal air compressors to optimize performance and lower energy costs.
Overview
Features
- The internals are factory-lubed and sealed to prevent debris from entering the vanes
- Stainless steel vanes eliminate corrosion
- Gear-driven valves provide smoother control than linkage-driven valves and lowers the routine maintenance costs
- In full-throttled mode, inlet guide vanes lower the amperes consumption by an average of 3 to 7% compared to a butterfly valve
- The thin-line style is only 2 inches wide
Description
The Air Relief Inlet Guide Vane is designed to adjust the inlet airflow for centrifugal air compressors to optimize the compressor's performance across a range of operating conditions, improving efficiency and lowering energy costs.
Inlet guide vanes replace the standard inlet butterfly valve on centrifugal compressors and impart a whirling motion to the inlet airflow in the same rotational direction as the impeller. The adjusted airflow requires the compressor to perform less work to deliver the rated airflow. Energy savings of 3 to 7% can be realized, especially when the compressor is working at less than full load or when the ambient air temperature is less than the design temperature (usually 95°F, 35°C).
